Football
Tate announces our new head football coach, Rhett Summerford. Coach Summerford is married to Heather Summerford and has two kids, Layla (12) and Max (8). He has been the head coach at West Florida High School for five years. Prior to becoming a head coach, Coach Summerford served as the defensive coordinator at WFHS for six years and coached football at Tate from 2006 until 2011. He played baseball and football at Tate High School then furthered his career in baseball at PSC and UWF.
He is a member of the Cantonment community and comes from a strong Aggie family. Coach Summerford's father, Neal, was a THS Assistant Coach for Coach Carl Madison and the 1980 State Championship Team. His mother, Karla, began her thirty year teaching career at Tate High School. Coach Summerford has one brother, Wes, who is currently the head football coach at Northview High School.
